Stylist of the Month
Congratulations to our Stylist of the Month for May, Jennifer! She's a stylist at our Plymouth, Michigan salon. We wanted to ask her a few questions about her and her time at Lady Jane’s.
LJ: What's your favorite part about cutting hair at LJ?
JENNIFER: It is so easy to build a clientele here. With all the advertisements and promos, the guys know where we are so there is always a chance to keep building.
LJ: Since sports is such a large part of the LJ experience, what's your favorite sports team & why?
JENNIFER: I will always be a Red Wings fan. The only sport I recall watching with my parents was hockey. Up until the last few years, the Wings had made the playoffs every year that I was alive, and even though they have not been the best in the league recently, they will always be the best to me.
LJ: What type of music do you listen to?
JENNIFER: I have a VERY eclectic taste in music. I can go from Johnny Cash to Lil Wayne to Metallica really quick. But I must say that I much prefer Classic rock over most music.
LJ: What hobbies do you enjoy?
JENNIFER: I'm an outdoorsy girl. I spent a good part of my childhood living in Northern Michigan during the summers, quad riding in the mud, hiking and looking for snakes and frogs. I don't have much time to be up there as much now, but I still make time to go hunting with my Dad every November.
LJ: Scissor cuts or clipper cuts?
JENNIFER: I think I definitely excel at both considering that my clientele is a healthy mix of both styles. But I have to go with clipper cuts, specifically bald fades. I LOVE the way they look.
LJ: What is your favorite LJ product for guys to use?
JENNIFER: I'm not an one product fits all kind of girl. But I do like the versatility of the American Crew Fiber Cream. You can blow dry it in for volume and texture or use it on dry hair for a simple style.
LJ: What's your 10 second pitch on why LJ is the ONLY place for a guy to get his haircut?
JENNIFER: Lady Janes does not do the 15 minutes in and out haircut, if you want a haircut completely catered to you go to your local LJ and find your hairstylist. If you want to treat yourself also get the Kings Treatment! (My specialty)
LJ: What is your favorite thing about working at Lady Jane's?
JENNIFER: My clientele is by far the best, and my work family. Working 10 hours a day isn't all that bad when you work with friends.
LJ: If you had a motto to live by, what would it be and why?
JENNIFER: Do what you love. If you find a job you are passionate about, it isn't work anymore. It can be hard some days, but the good days are worth it!
LJ: What lead you to become a cosmetologist?
JENNIFER: I started out in school as a drama/art major. I wanted to possibly go into doing hair and make-up on sets but after beauty school and a brief period doing women's hair I decided that was not the path for me. When I found LJ I was at the point that I didn't think I wanted to do hair anymore, but working here has lead me back to loving what I do. Now I've been here 8 years!
