Congratulations to our Stylist of the Month for September, Sonya Warrick! Sonya is cuts and manages our salon in Taylor, MI and we are so proud to have her on our team! We got a chance to ask Sonya a few questions, and she told us about her journey as an LJ stylist.

LJ: As a Wicked Awesome STYLIST, what's your favorite part about cutting hair at LJ?

SONYA: I love cutting hair at LJ's because the stylists are given the opportunities to succeed! When I started working for this company, I was so excited to learn from the other stylists! Fast forward to today: I'm a manager at the Taylor Lady Jane's, I'm completely booked out most days with a HUGE clientele and I've become very well-respected at my store! I love it!

LJ: Since sports is such a large part of the LJ experience, what's your favorite sports team & why?

SONYA: I had been a cheerleader for the local football team from the time I was 7 until I graduated high school at 17. If anyone knows about cheerleading, we pride ourselves in being loud and proud! So, I'd have to say that my favorite sports team is the Kansas City Chiefs! They're loud, proud and in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the loudest football stadium in the world!

LJ: What type of music do you listen to?

SONYA: I'm a rocker at heart! Anything from grunge to metal can satisfy my ears. Reggae always puts me in a good mood too.

LJ: What do you enjoy?

SONYA: When I'm not at work, I'm a mother and a fiancé. My children are truly the best thing about me. I pride myself in guiding them in the right direction and providing them with stability. I enjoy every adventure, big or small. I enjoy learning from them, as well. They're my inspiration to be successful and I want them to be proud of me.

LJ: Scissor cuts or clipper cuts?

SONYA: Scissors & clippers!!! I've taken the to learn it all. From flat tops to skin bald fades, fathered back scissor cuts and more because I never want to turn a client away. If a gentleman asks for a certain haircut, I will deliver.

LJ: What is your favorite LJ product for guys to use?

SONYA: Forming Cream by Crew. It seems to work well on almost every client. It's strong enough to hold that hair in place and light enough to seem like there's not too much product in the client's hair. It smells amazing too.

LJ: What's your 10 second pitch on why LJ is the ONLY place for a guy to get his haircut?

SONYA: Our ladies take the time to make sure that the haircut is suitable for every client's personality and lifestyle! We SPECIALIZE in you GUYS! ;)

LJ: If you had a motto to live by, what would it be and why?

SONYA: Love Yourself! It's not always the easiest thing to do and some of us have to learn this the hard way, but in order to be successful, you have to LOVE yourself!

LJ: What lead you to become a cosmetologist?

SONYA: I've always had a natural talent with hair. There's nothing like the feeling I get when someone is more than happy with their hair. When you look good, you feel good and I love being apart of that!
