Tim McCollum, President of Lady Jane's, caught up with a very excited Nicole to get a good look at the incredible girl who will represent Lady Jane's in 2016.
Position & Locations: Stylist - Greenfield, WI
TM: What interested you in being part of the Lady Jane's team?
NH: I was very interested in learning how to cut men's hair because they did not teach us a lot in school. I sat down at my interview and said, "I don't know how to cut men's hair, but I'm a fast learner and a good listener. If you are willing to teach me I would really love to work here!" The rest is history.
TM: So, how long have you worked at LJ?
NH: I have been with the company for three years.
TM: Other than your career, what are you passionate about?
NH: I have plenty of other interests outside work. I love to read. As many of my clients know, I am BEYOND obsessed with the Harry Potter series. I love to exercise and play sports. I am also an artist. I love to paint and draw; hopefully I will be able to sell some of my works online soon!
TM: What is your favorite product to work with currently?
NH: My favorite product right now has to be the Bed Head Manipulator Matte. Hands down this product works for both kids and grown men for all types of styles.
TM: What haircut are you really digging right now for the fellas?
NH: I really enjoy cutting the faded mohawk pompadour style.
TM: Who do you look up to as a role model?
NH: I guess I look up to anyone who inspires me. I have many people both in my life and those I do not know personally that inspire me daily. It motivates me to be a better person.
TM: Are you a sports fan? If so, what is your favorite sports team?
NH: Although I would much rather play sports than watch, I fully support the Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers! I am also a huge soccer fan! I grew up watching the Milwaukee Wave. My boyfriend introduced me to the international level, and now I like watching Manchester United games and the World Cup.
TM: Favorite restaurant?
NH: I just love food in general. I like trying new things, but I always come back to pasta. You can never go wrong with spaghetti.
TM: What would be your ideal date?
NH: Anything outside. I like bike rides, going to the park, or playing sports. Anything that's fun, really!
TM: What do you look for in a guy?
NH: I like laughing. You need a good sense of humor to be with me. I have been dating my high school sweetheart for five years and he keeps me in stitches!
TM: What are three things you can't live without?
NH: Harry Potter, my family and friends, and a sketchbook.
TM: Why do you think you were selected as the LJ Girl for 2016?
NH: I am so honored that I was chosen for this title. I feel I was selected to be the LJ Girl based on my work ethic and attitude. I have always given my best. I try to hit every goal that I set or that management suggests. It is nice to know that my hard work was noticed and rewarded.
TM: Thanks Nicole! And good luck, you’re going to be Wicked Awesome as the 2016 LJ Girl!
Nicole, our new Lady Jane girl, is the reason the Green Bay Packers are donning the company website! A stylist at our Greenfield, Wisc. location, Nicole is a Packers and Brewers fan who enjoys playing sports even more than watching them. She has been with LJ since 2012, charming her growing client base with her engaging personality and skills as a stylist.
Our President, Tim McCollum caught up with the self-proclaimed hard worker, congratulating her on her new title and asking questions to learn more about what makes her an LJ superstar.
One of Nicole's first jobs was at the age of 15, cleaning up in a friend's salon. She loved watching the stylists work, in admiration of what they could do with hair.
One day the owner, Patti, pulled her aside to tell her that if she didn't interact with people as part of her ultimate career choice, it would be a sad waste of her talents.
"After I graduated high school I went to college for teaching, however I soon realized that cosmotology was where my heart was," said Nicole. "It was something I loved and it came natural. It also helped that I could make money in it right away.
"After my first (and last) semester in college, I started at VICI beauty school."
After expressing her desire to learn on the job, Nicole has kept that attitude throughout her three years as a stylist. She does whatever it takes to meet the goals set out for her by management, a big reason she was selected as LJ Girl of the Year.
"It is nice to know that my hard work was noticed and rewarded," she said.
While she works hard, Nicole also has plenty of fun on the job. "The girls I work with are like my family," she said. "We all get along and we like to laugh and joke around with each other, especially on the busy days."
Nicole says her regular clients are like family, too, though she also enjoys meeting new people. "Meeting new clients is even more exciting because you never know what they could be like!"
"Don't go through life unnoticed. Always be the person that makes an impression on someone. Help others be the best they can they can be!"
